Watching the race just now, the last leg of the Triple Crown, the Belmont, we were all shocked. Big Brown breaks clean in the beginning, stumbled/slipped under his back end around the first part of the track. He fought Kent Desormeauz, his jockey, in the beginning of the race. As he came around the first turn to the back part of the track, Big Brown looked like he was racing oddly. Around the last turn, he started dropping back quickly until he was finally 10th in the race. By the end of the 1/2 mile, Kent stood up and started applying the brakes as he said, "I realized I didn't have a horse." The distance of the Belmont has claimed another victim. Something happened. Maybe it was something from his 1/4 crack in his left front hoof?
38-1 Da'Tara, trained by Nick Zito, came in first.
